Exploring the Million Hope Wreck - September 2013

The Million Hope was a Bulk Cargo Carrier built in Japan, launched in 1972, 174.6 meters in length,24.9 meters in beam, and 10 meters in draught. The ship, departed from Jordan on 19 June 1996, enroute to Taiwan, ran aground on the inshore reef near Naqb on the morning after, due to a combination of fire onboard and high speed in low visibility conditions. The crew of 25 men were safely rescued shortly after the grounding.
The Million Hope, which is the second largest shipwreck in the Red Sea, sank upright next to the reef in 25 meters of water, with the main deck at about 6 meters: exploration is very safe and easy, also for beginners. The pristine coral reef, the lush underwater life and the magical atmosphere, makes the Million Hope the perfect dive site for underwater photography lovers.
